DCK Pacific Construction's sponsorhip of CPR kits helps NICU/PICU patients

HONOLULU — As part of National CPR/AED (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator) Awareness Week,dck pacific construction and Layton Construction (Layton/dck JV) partnered with the American Heart Association to provide “CPR-Infant Anytime” training kits for parents of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) patients at Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children.

Eighty CPR-Infant Anytime kits from AHA were made available to NICU and PICU families to help provide a life-saving skill and give parents the knowledge, sense of security and empowerment to perform infant CPR if and when their child needs it. NICU and PICU are where highly complicated and life-saving procedures are performed for newborns to teens.

Kaiser Permanente Hawaii Expands Access to Physician Care with the Addition of Four New Specialists

Specialists in Gynecologic Oncology, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine and Ophthalmology Join the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group

HONOLULU, HI – February 19, 2013 –
Kaiser Permanente Hawaii today announced the addition of four new physicians who join over 500 physicians and providers of the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group (HPMG), the state’s largest multi-specialty medical group, providing comprehensive care to Kaiser Permanente’s 227,000-plus members. 


New physicians on Oahu include Thanasak Sueblinvong, MD, a specialist in gynecologic oncology, and Cheryl Villareal, MD, a specialist in emergency medicine. Both are practicing at the Moanalua Medical Center.

On Maui, new physicians are Drosie Rosaro, MD, a specialist in internal medicine practicing at Maui Lani Clinic, and Brett Shapiro, MD, an ophthalmologist practicing at the Wailuku Clinic.

USS Missouri Memorial Association Recognizes Outstanding Volunteers

Pearl Harbor — On a day that celebrated the 69th anniversary of the launch of the USS Missouri (BB-63) from Brooklyn Navy Yard and the 14th anniversary of the ship’s opening as a memorial in Pearl Harbor, the USS Missouri Memorial Association (UMMA) recognized all of their outstanding volunteers. In 2012 volunteers at the Battleship Missouri totaled over 5,695 volunteer days for 33,706 hours – an average of 15 volunteers and 92 hours per day.

Hawaii Meth Project Announces Winners in Statewide Teen Art Contest

HONOLULU––January 10, 2013––The Hawaii Meth Project today has announced the winners of its “Take a Stand Against Meth” art contest, a statewide initiative designed to leverage the creativity and passion of Hawaii’s young people to communicate the risks associated with methamphetamine use.  To compete in the contest, teens throughout the state created and entered paintings, drawings, and photographs, expressing their thoughts about Meth use and discouraging others from trying this highly addictive drug.  61 entries were created by teens from the islands of Hawaii, Kauai, Lanai, Maui, and Oahu.
